Chippewa Square: Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools Administrative Offices
The entrance to Chatham Academy was on Oglethorpe Avenue near Drayton Street; one entered Savannah High School via the broad stairs on Bull Street; today these buildings house the offices of the Savannah public schools. Organized in 1788, Chatham Academy moved in 1908 to the building designed by Henry Urban, architect, on Oglethorpe Avenue. For a time, Chatham Academy was Savannah's only public high school. Then the building around the corner at 208 Bull Street became Savannah High School from 1925 until 1937. Today the buildings are home to the Savannah-Chatham County Board of Public Education. 208 Bull Street.
