Wright Square: Juliette Gordon Low Girl Scout National Center

An imposing Regency mansion in shades of brown, birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low who founded the Girl Scouts of the United States of America in 1912. Juliette Gordon Low was born here on Halloween night in 1860. Did English architect William Jay design this mansion? Some say "yes," some say "no." At any rate, this elegant town house was built for James Moore Wayne, mayor of Savannah and Supreme Court Justice, who sold it to Juliette's grandfather, William Washington Gordon, in 1831. The furnishings reflect the years of Juliette's girlhood, including her portrait and many family furnishings.
