 Franklin Square: First African Baptist Church
The oldest black church in North America had its beginning in 1773. The first Black Sunday School in North America was organized in the church in 1826. The present sanctuary was erected in 1859 and is listed in the National Register of Historic places. It houses the first museum in any area black church and contains archives and memorabilia dating the church to the 18th century. oldestblackchurch.org
