Pulaski Square: Francis Bartow House

This house was built for the family of Civil War hero Francis Stebbins Bartow, who died in 1861 in the first Battle of Bull Run, after leading Savannah's Oglethorpe Light Infantry to Richmond. His grave is in Laurel Grove Cemetery. The rank of brigadier general was awarded posthumously. Busts of General Bartow and General Lafayette McLaws, also a Confederate hero, flank the Confederate Monument in Forsyth Park. 128 West Harris Street at Barnard.
