This Italianate house was designed by architect John S. Norris for General Hugh Weedon Mercer prior to the Civil War, but was not completed until the war was over. With gracefully arched doors and windows opening onto cast iron balconies, it stands on a trust lot. A descendant of General Mercer was well-known lyricist Johnny Mercer.
