Noble Hardee House (1860-69)

3 West Gordon Street and 441 Bull Street.
Noble Hardee began this mansion in 1860, but died before the house was finally completed after the Civil War. President Chester A. Arthur, who visited here twice during his presidency, no doubt enjoyed the view of Monterey Square. The original design of the house is gradually being restored as later additions are being removed. It was part of Armstrong Junior College in the 1940s.
