FEB. 1

UniverSoul Circus

7:30 p.m. Feb. 1-6, Ted Wright Stadium grass parking lot, Savannah State University, 3219 College St. Family entertainment attraction with a fast-paced, high-energy, interactive show emphasizing family values and positive messages about education, empowerment and self-esteem. Monument Walk and Opening Ceremony

Procession begins 10:30 a.m. Feb. 1 at Oglethorpe's Bench, W. Bay St. Opening ceremony begins noon Feb. 1, East Broad Street Elementary School. Kick-off event for the 2005 Georgia Heritage Celebration honoring the 272nd anniversary of the founding of Georgia, and Mother Matilda Beasley. The walk is a procession of wreath-laying ceremonies by various patriotic organizations at Oglethorpe's Bench and continuing through the monuments of Bull St., ending at Monterey Square. Transportation provided from Monterey Square to East Broad Elementary. Ceremony features greetings from dignitaries, period and patriotic music and 18th-century costumes. Free and open to the public. 'The Learned Ladies'

The Savannah College of Art and Design's media and performing arts department presents Moliere's story of a household turned upside down. 8 p.m. Feb. 3-4; 3 p.m. & 8 p.m. Feb. 5, Mondanaro Theater, 217 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 students and seniors. Colonial Music and Georgia Heritage Lecture

Oscar Micheaux's 'Body & Soul'

6 p.m. screening of "Midnight Ramble" at the Lucas Theater for the Arts; "Body & Soul" 8 p.m. Feb. 11, Trustees Theatre. Celebrated jazz musician Wycliffe Gordon conducts a 17-piece ensemble performing his score for a silent film directed by America's original African-American filmmaker, Oscar Micheaux. "Midnight Ramble" is a documentary on race films that examines the work of Micheaux. The documentary's producer will lead a question-and-answer session. Georgia Heritage Procession
